Tom Tom Nav 5 can't see California map on SD card

I have TT Nav 5.21 running on my PDA and I have a problem getting it to recognise USA Maps. I have installed a California-Map onto the root of my SD Card but when I select Switch Map the only one shown is Great Britain.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

have you tried reinstalling the map

Is the map a genuine product with an activatiob code or an illegal copy. If the latter I suspect that will be your problem, and the answer will be to buy a proper version.

If you are using TTN 5.21 and trying to add a USA map v5.67 it won't recognise it. To 'see' a version 5.67 map you'll need to downgrade your version of TTN to version 5.

This has come up on numerous occasions. To get a fully explanation do a search through Tom Tom Navigator Software.

Buy a spare SD card and install v5.0 and the california maps to it. Then all you need to do is swap SD cards.

hi i've been having the same trouble i'll downgrade tomorrow but can anyone tell me what the benifits of the new 5.21 gives over 5 anyway? i know you need it for newer operating systems but i didn't notice anything different .
