Having installed SP1 onto my Smart ST2005 (stupid I know, I should have worked on the principle "if it ain't broke don't fix it"), I now cannot get the Desktop to work properly.

When I run the program with one of my Map CDs in it synchronises OK with my iCN 510, and the details on the right confirm that an almost full SD card is present but the contents do not show as yellow on the map. Similarly, the CD maps are shown as available on the CD but show as not registered to my iCN 510.

If I re-enter the Activation Key it is accepted but has no obvious effect.

If I re-enter the Map Product key the system just freezes when I tap the next button and nothing happens.

If I try the "recover registration information from Navman" it all seems to work as advertised with the licence file downloading but has no effect on the problem.

If I try the "Update softare on iCN" I get "Error loading MapDevice DLL : Device is not loaded.

Rebooting the iCN doesn't help. Reinstalling SmartST 2005 doesn't help.

I've run out of ideas now, anyone any clues as to what I might have missed ?

The iCN510 is working fine, but unless I can fix this I just cannot change maps.

Al

It sounds to me as if the activation key may have got itself corrupted at some time. Now, when you try to re-register, the uncorrupted key is not being recognised.

Perhaps this is something you should try and take up with Navman.

Further to this, I have found a temporary solution. If I uninstall SmartST 2005 and then reinstall it then everything works as advertised. But if I shut down the program and then restart it then the above symptoms occur. It's a bit of a pain but at least it means I can build some SD images for proposed trips.

I assume that something is not checked the first time the program is used, but is checked on subsequent runs, and that is what has been corrupted.
