Firstly, thanks for all the comments and feedback from you all.
What I am finding is that by mounting the TT on the screen it takes quite a while to eventually get a a good enough signal from 3-4 satelites (not too bad I guess ?). It doesn't seem to make much difference where on the screen it is mounted, the signal is much the same.
Once on the move (40mph +) it often loses it's signal / lock and struggles to get ever a fix again.
Interestingly enough when operating the unit outside the vehicle it will find 7-11 satelites (so I guess the unit is OK ?). A similar performance is obtained when the unit is placed near one of the side windows of the vehicle (normal glass). So, the finger seems to be pointing at the athermic screen as being the culprit for signal reduction/loss (?)
I tried holding the unit by the "blacked-out" area on the screen behind the rear view mirror (a non-athermic region of the glass ?) and the signal was very much improved. So, I am now thinking about buying the antenna and mounting it in that area, and feeding the cable down around the trim.
I am interested in learning where idunne mounted his aerial on his Zafira.
Any further comments/ ideas would be most welcome, and I hope my experience may be of interest to others. Thanks again. Mark

Mark I think in some respects you have found the solution to your problem, the external antenna mounted in that location will sort the problem out, it should also get rid of the loss of signal while driving - Mike
It shouldn't loose a signal through the screen. mine worked fine on a TT1.
I suggest you take it back for another one and give it a try before splashing out on an aerial. _________________ Garmin Emap, Ipaq 2210 with TomTom Navigator 5, TomTom One, Pioneer AVIC-X1R, TomTom 910 (stolen). TomTom 520, TomTom 6100 (Faulty, replaced under warranty), Currently got a TomTom 6200
