I worked it out once but forgot the details -- you can specify different sounds for different POIs if you edit their INI files, however, just any WAV file will not work. I know they have to be mono, but don't remember whether 8 or 16 bit, and which sampling rate (it is important, only correct one will work). In addition to that, WAV header file must not contain any extended information, even if set to 0. You'll have to do a lot of playing around with sound editor which can save WAV files without extended information but once you find out correct parameters it does work.
