I'm looking to upgrade my Navman GPS3000 to a system that allows "back on track" voice capabilities. I have the original Navman sleeve. Can this be re-used. Also, what is the minimum configuration of iPAQ in need. I currently run a 3630...don't laugh 8O
You feedback would really be appreciated.
Thanks

Either Navman SmartSTPro or TomTom Navigator 2 will do the job with your old sleeve. |

You can also upgrade your software from Navman Smart Path/City to the Navman ST Professional. It costs about £140. This then turns your 3000 sleeve into a 3400. |

YOur sleeve will of course still be the 3000 model, it is just the software that is being updated. The new sleeves that are packaged with the 3300 and 3450 products are new and offer much better performance. _________________ Mike Barrett |

There is actually no differance in hardware specification between the 3000 and the 3400. Only the software. If the number ends in a 50 e.g. 3450 then the manufacture's have upgraded the hardware. |

You really need to check the software version of the sleeve as there is a difference between the early 3000 and the 3400 sleeves, the performance of an early 3000 sleeve is far worse than that of the 3400 due to the older rom version and possibly other things.
Something else to keep in mind is memory, the 36 series ipaq doesn't have a lot of it, so if you have lots of programs and files installed to internal memory you probably wont be able to use SmartSt Pro and therefore TomTom Navigator 2 is most likely the answer, I believe that 12mb free memory is the very minimum required
hope this helps... |

I still use a 3630 and as onabashi has said, SmartST doesn't run too well on them if at all
The good news is that TTNav2 runs perfectly on it, I use both a 3000 and Emtac sleeve and apart from some long TTFF's on the 3000 they're fine. _________________ Darren Griffin |
