USA maps with european TTN software

I have the european version of ttn 2. I am going to the US in December and would like to use ttn there. Are there any issues regarding the use of the USA maps with the european software? Are there any legal outlets selling the USA maps? Or would I have to buy the complete US package in order to obtain the maps?

Technically speaking there is no problem to get the european (UK english I assume) version to work with the US maps. You will lose one or two fine details (highway vs motorway etc) but that's not too much.

BUT - you will have to register the new maps anyhow (means you have to purchase them as well) and the latest US application comes with the CDs AND/OR can be downloaded from the TomTom site.

So basically there's no point to use the UK app with the US maps. (Well, not a substantial point at least).

Remember, you ALWAYS pay for the maps, not for the application.
