|
|
I've got a GPS 400. I've joined this site, installed the speed camera database and sounds from it (great instructions!) but I have a really annoying issue with this system.
If I don't leave it charging all the time and it goes flat, I loose all the info I installed and have to re-install it all again. OK so it only takes 10 minutes but that's not the point.
Why can't this device be switched off when not in use, rather than using the battery lock which keeps the battery powered, but deletes all my favourites etc??!! Have I missed something here? Is there something I can do to stop this? Why can;t the favourites folder be stored on the memory card rather than the firmware of the device?
I like my GPS400 but this issue is making want to go and get my cash back and buy a tom tom.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything I can do? |

I don't have a Packard Bell but if the unit is behaving like this i would take it back double quick
It might be worth a quick call to PB if you really like the unit as this surely must be a faulty unit surely this is not normal behaviour.
What would happen say if you went away for 7 days, are you planning on taking a PC / Laptop with you so you can reinstate the poi's when they are lost.
I assume you purchased the device at the company with PC in it's title or its other namesakes check around for prices you may be better off some where else buying a replacement |

Thanks - but could it be that this is the "nature of the beast"? |

Try posting here http://forum.packardbell.com/en/ i had a quick look on your battery life question but could find no messages, that's not to say there is not any check yourself.
Hope you get sorted out one way or the other |

There are two possible answers to this.
1. As allready been said you have a faulty unit, it should hold its charge for months if not used.
2. You are not turning the unit off properly. If when turning off you hold the power button down too long instead of turning off it just goes into econemy mode, it stays on and just turns the back light off on the screan.
To turn it off is just a quick press and release of the button.
Have a look at the screan when you have it turned off, if you can still see dark versions of the map or icons you have it in economy mode.
Let me know if this helps |

Paul80 you are the man!
Sure enough, I just tapped the power button briefly and off it went. Bingo!
The instructions I got with the unit did not mention that at all (I have just checked and rechecked!).
Thanks again. |
