Hi all I am a new member. I bought a Navman ICN520 2 days ago. I have used it in the car a couple of times at it seemed ok. I have just turned it on now an and 20 minutes later it is still trying to find the sattellitte. I have ordered an external antenna. any other ideas please.

thanks

If you are moving, then it can take a long time to find the satellite fix. Also if you switch it off, drive to a different location and then switch it on, that seems to dis-orientate the unit and it may take longer than usual to get a fix.

Also check to see if you have an Athermic Windscreen, sometimes you can have problems with those, then you could just need that external ariel.

What sort of car do you have?? If it's a renault, it may have a reflective screen and you will prob need an external antenna.

If you have an "ordinary" screen, you could try clearing the gps info. From memory, there's a menu option to delete the GPS info??

There is also a backup folder on the device/SD card that you can delete and the unit will rebuild it when you power on. This can resolve slow aquisition times. For goodness sake read up on this before you get adventurous and start deleting files/folders !!

The other option is take it back and get an exchange if you think it's not working properly.

My 510 can take 5 mins or so to aquire, but 20 mins seems like a long time to me??
