When I contacted Navman product support about there being no mapping for the Channel Islands on my iCN650 with ST2005 they told me "there's no demand".
This does seem at odds with both Audi (who use Navteq mapping on the RNS-E I have) and Garmin, who both provide support for the Channel Islands.
I found it really annoying while on a recent long weekend on Jersey that I couldn't use my iCN650 and had to rely on a (not very accurate) paper map from the car hire company. It almost made me wish we had paid the extra on the car ferry and taken our own Audi.
Does anyone know of any way to:
- add mapping for the Channel Islands to my iCN650 (and my brother's iCN520)?
- persuade Navman that they are missing out on business (Garmin realise this because AFAIK they have only recently added the Channel Islands to their mapping).
- get a sensible trade-in for my iCN650 against an equivalent Garmin product? If Navman won't listen to their customers, then maybe we should walk away from Navman!!!

Hi PetrolDave,
Mapping of the Channel Islands is a favourite “issue” of mine! Navteq have mapped the Channel Islands, as you have found with Audi and Garmin. Unfortunately more of the SatNav software companies like Navman and TomTom use the competitor to Navteq, which is Tele Atlas.
I’ve spent years contacting Tele Atlas, asking them to send a man with a van and a big box of sandwiches in order to map the Channel Islands. They say they will and unfortunately continue to delay the mapping.
Your best bet is to take a SatNav with Navteq map data, i.e. CoPilot, Mapopolis, Garmin, or your Audi.
