I recently bought a nuvi 300 and the GTM11. I've got the 300 working fine, but so far, have had no luck with the GTM11. I've plugged it directly in to the nuvi when in car, so it is powered up, but all I get on the LED is a steady amber light, and the nuvi never reports any traffic data.

When I got the 300 in a fit of enthusiam I updated all the software using the Garmin Webupdater, so it is running the latest firmware, and it is also ran an update on the firmware for the GTM11. Could this be the reason for it not connecting. Any advice would be much appreicated.

cheers, Paul

Yep - GTM is going in to the power on the side of the nuvi, and the external power is going in to the connecter on the back of the mounting bracket.

Problem fixed, just don't ask how. Plugged in to my laptop this evening with the nuvi and gtm11 attached, and it got traffic data within 2mins. Now boring my wife by telling her where all the traffic holds up are around the country this evening ;-)

Hi Pach

Is the GTM11 a big unit? Do you think you can stick it behind the dash or somewhere else out of sight? (I ask as I'm thinking of getting one).

Cheers

Unit itself is about 1 inch wide, 2 inches long. It then has a choice of two areas, a rigid one about a foot long, or a wire one which stretches the width of the dashboard. With the rigid one attached, the easiest thing is to use the velcro which comes with it and attach it to the A frame of the window. I'm going to go with that route, although longer term might tuck it away in the dash and use the wire antenna.

Thats the route I took attached to A Frame and tucked cable away under trim.
Do notice a lose synch sometimes with stub arial, will have to try with wire to see if it makes any difference
Any one else noticed this ?
