Hi,

I am looking for the following:
- GPS with integrated Traffic receiver and antenna.
- Possibility to mount it on a dashboard.

The closest I found is the new Garmin C550 and the new AA
but they both requires an extra cable in the form of a power cable which is also used for Traffic reception.

I'd like to only have a GPS device, put it on my dashboard, switch it on.. et voila! no cables and with traffic warning... (can charge at home or use cable for very long journey).

It seems there is no such device out there... is that true?

Cheers,
Sylvain.

Tom Tom Go do their own traffic info system and a built in receiver and a battery that will last for a few hours of use. You need to have a mobile phone paired with it - but since it is connected by BT there are no wires and you can keep it in your pocket. How good their traffic info is is another matter. .

Thanks Petect10 for the quick answer.
I have heard about this Tomtom service (I have a PDA with Tomtom Navigator 5). Although I have never used it myself I am a bit worry about 3 things:
1) cost (probably uses GPRS)
2) Tomtom... I have been one of their customer for about 3 years now, although I never really had any problems with it, I am not happy with their (lack of) support and would like to change brand (unless their new GO line up is really really good ... still have to read more reviews)
3) I don't think their device can be held on a dashboard but instead needs to use the "sucker" on the windscreen.

Thx for your answer though!
Sylvain.

Dont know for sure because I dont use TT traffic, But here goes

1 yep - and you have to pay TT. But many mobile phone deals include free internet access.

2 Why not search this and other forums on how good their traffic service is?

3 You can get a brodit dashboard mount to fit most cars and TT sell a flat plate mount that screws onto it - eliminates sucker on windscreen.
