Surely V5 doesn't support turn by turn or voice navigation.

You can use metroguide V5 to navigate if you upload it to the unit with a utility called img2gps instead of the mapsource loader

As I cannot stand the voice navigation I cannot comment.

BUT:-

Most units can use MetroGuide with autorouting if you use img2gps software as Beerbellybill999 suggests! It is a far cheaper way of using secondary maps [USA when you live in UK] or [Americans visiting Europe]

It is a far cheaper way for UK owners to instal European maps for their holidays.

I have autorouting on my Garmin 60CS with MetroGuide.

I've got Metroguide v7 for Europe installed. I also downloaded metroguide update, and the img2gps program. I can import all the maps (*.img files) into img2gps no problem. It totals 1.4Gb, so I shedded Wales (as have UK maps already), Denmark, Sweden, Scotland to get it down to 1Gb to fit my transflash card. All good so far.

I then connected the Garmin i3 up to USB with the blank 1Gb transflash installed. It auto-loaded Garmin POI (Places of Interest) Loader software which I immediately cancelled.

I then couldn't seem to get img2gps to upload to the Garmin unit. With the USB connected (and the POI software cancelled), there was a message on the unit saying "Use software to load mapping data via USB" or something similar.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to load the map data with img2gps directly to the transflash card via a USB card reader? My objective is to get Europe mapping on the i3 with routing.

Thanks for any help!

Chris
