Hi I am a newbie to this fantastic forum.

I am using a Fortuna GPSmart Bluetooth device + HP 1940 and TomTom Navigator 2. The combination is fantastic and I am pleased with the result. However, I have noticed that my current position is always out by about 50 yards ??? Looking at the GPS compass it seems that I am approximately 50 yards south from the exact position when facing north.

As a result, when I am say at a junction, the position is just before the junction. Also, if there is a road running parallel to my path, the pointer sometimes skips to that road.

Is there some sort of calibration I am missing?? I usually get about 7-8 satellite locks with good signal strength.

The other problem is that when I start TomTom Navigaotr, it starts in Navigator mode and I always get GPS unreliable even though the GPS program shows I have a fix. I have to go to the map mode, click on the GPS bars (top right) and only then do I get a sat fix which works in the navigator mode. Is this normal?

I would greatly appreciate anyone's help in this matter.

Finally found the problem after wading through the forum - amazing the amount of info here!

Had to change the Map datum on the GPS receiver to WSG84. Now got an exact fix and problem solved - yipee!!

I still have the GPS Unreliable message though and have to flip to map mode and then navigator mode before I get a fix.
