What is the best GPS receiver/external antenna combo

Hi, I'm looking for a portable GPS receiver which can be connected to an external high gain antenna. Problem is the high gain antenna would need to draw power from the receiver or a portable battery pack, as there is no other power source. The reason i want a high gain unit is because i am using the unit on high-speed moving vehicles (i.e trains, aeroplanes). Reception is also reduced by the use of timted glass.
Any suggestions?

I am not aware of such a combination (portable receiver and high gain antenna). Have you tried the standard re-radiating antennae that come with most of the new BT GPS receivers? Maybe those do already give you the required performance?
