Hi Techy's

I have £850 pounds to spend on GPS, and I want to buy a PDA which has GPS, Can you guys or girls recommend a product for me to purchase. I have read up on it, but it has confused me even more.

I was thinking of buying the Gamin IQUE 3600, but I hear that the Windws CE Devices are better. So any help would be nice. Or should I just purchase a Garmin SPIII.

I like the Idea of haveing the option of adding software to the CE device like speed cameras.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

For you to make a choice you need to state what the main purpose is for you.

Going from A to B in the fastest way or cruise the country?
Using it in a car our on a motorcycle? Or even walking?

So give some more info and someone can give = or - for each device.

Yer, sorry about that i'm useing it in a car, I would like it to tell me via voice prompts when to turn left or right, as I said it would be nice to have the feature useing it as a PDA, the only thing that scares me is that I don't won't to waste £800 pounds on a PDA which does not do the job.

I'm using a iPaq and TT2.
It is working without any problem. Fine graphics (2D and 3D) and voice included.

I choosen the PDA because the extra's. Before I had a Palm for my contacts and appointments. Now I using the PDA for Navigation and the stuff I used with my Palm.

I hope this helps.

YB

You will probably get more out of a Pocket PC in productivity because you can use it as an MP3 Player, a mobile source for your emails, play games and much more.

For £800 ish you could get a decent Pocket PC like a HP 2210, and a complete Bluetooth Sat Nav kit and might even be able to stretch to complete European maps for this.

Great thanks for the info people, Just one more question to put my mind at ease, I have seen an item called navman 630 which is about £1000 pounds and I was wondering why are the so expensive is it because they do a better job than the PDA?

The iCN630 is no better than a PDA but as it's a self contained single purpose unit there is no PDA learning curve etc. The apparent complexity of PDA's puts some potential users off these solutions hence the market for systems like the iCN630 and Garmin's StreetPilot products.

I just bought the following..

Fortuna GPSmart - £96 from ebay - but about 130 normally
HP iPAQ £309 from Amazon, but Expansys matched their price
128 mb CF and 128 mb CF cards 60 odd quid from expansys
Gonna buy TT2 GB for £117

Its great, i have a portable GPS route mapper, way point storer etc. (Fortuna on its own). Then i have an in car sat nav, that i can take abroad, for example I'm flying to germay in two weeks and then hiring a car. Of course, i have a permanent synch of my tasks, emails and calender, nto to mention, and mp3 player, games console alarm clock, dual time zone display, file transfer device, (IR port).

All for about 600 quid, get in there!

jonokimber,

Don't forget your TT2 European maps. Map of Germany is large, you will need another CF card!!

Enjoy
