Anyone any ideas about using City Select mapping software with the i3. Garmin suggest it is compatible. My i3 is the latest version with City Navigator Europe NT v8 preinstalled but with a micro SD slot available. The preinstalled maps are limited to UK and Eire so I have tried copying the desired Euro maps from Mapsource direct as a file using an external writer on to the micro SD - nothing worked. Tried using the SD card converter with Micro inserted into my iQue - nothing worked but I did get a horizontal 'loading' bar indicating that it registers the card holds data. All I get then is the suggestion that the map software is 'not registered'. I guess this is 'not registered' to the i3 unit which incidentally is registered at Garmin but shown as 'Unknown' and to which is linked only the NT mapping software.

Any ideas of how I can load the maps? Or is it a case of buy another map registration code at cost from Garmin?

You have to push the maps from Mapsource to a Transflash card installed in the i3 connected to your PC. You can't use a seperate card reader. If your City Select is just activated for one iQue that you own then Garmin will also allow you to activate it for one other Garmin unit (e.g. i3) which you also own.

I've done this with City Select v6 maps for Europe. If anyone out their with V7 or V8 could let us know if you still have the full post code search. The v6 maps are in "traditional" format, where I've heard the I3 uses "NT" format. The UK maps I've loaded don;t have any postcodes.
