Hi all,
With reference to my last post 'problems acquiring satellites', today I went into West London, (Hammersmith, Marylebone) etc, and my Garmin lost the signal again. It regained it briefly but lost it again and didn't recover until long after we had left, incidently my friends LG satnav worked the whole time with only a very brief loss of signal in the same car.
Having never taken my Garmin into London before with all the tall buildings can anyone tell me if they have expereienced the same thing or is it another indication that the antenna on my unit may be faulty????
Could you also tell me if many others of you have experienced problems with the antennas on the NUVI 300 as Garmin have offered to replace it for a cost of £87 but if it is a common problem I might look at another model or make.
Many thanks,
Jeff. Smile

"Urban Canyoning" is a common problem with Sat Nav. It should be reduced with the new high sensitivity receivers but it can still occur. You could try an external antenna such as this one from Maplin.

Can you tell me what car you have too? Do you know if it has an Anthermic (heat reflecting) windscreen or a heater wire?

Thanks Paul,
Do you think its strange though that my friends carried on working and mine didn't recover until about 10 miles out of London....is it possible that its connected with my previous post?
I think the windscreen is a normal one, it was the old Citroen Picasso and his was working with no problems or external antenna.
Also have you heard of many problems with the Garmin antennas?
