Hi all.
Just got an A701, to upgrade from my SPVC550. Got TomTom loaded on just fine, but the problem soon became apparent... I am unable to use the cursor to move around and select options. Only the ENTER key works. Second issue, not sure if related, the unit is searching for a bluetooth GPS device. It has one built in. I can't stop it searching for gps device, as the controls stop working. I have to do a reboot. PLEASE can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong. I've ruled out a faulty device, cos there's always some user-error when it comes to me and new stuff !!

The A701 is not a smartphone. It is a Pocket PC. You ned to use TomTom Navigator, not TomTom Mobile. _________________ Lutz

Ok, but my SPV is running Windows Mobile which I understood to and a friend of mine uses the next phone up (SPVC600) with TomTom mobile and Windows mobile 5 - which my new device uses. On the assumption you are right, this will mean I'll have to either return the device or buy TomTom Navigator - so please confirm you are absolutely certain this is the case before I go through more disruption. Thanks in advance. |

You don't need to return the device or buy TomTom Navigator.
All you need to do is download the TomTom Navigator software from the TomTom site, install it on the A701, and then use up another activation key to activate your maps on the new device.
The main difference between Smartphones and Pocket PCs is that the latter have touch screens.
Be aware that the 701 is not officially supported by TomTom. _________________ Lutz
