Garmin i3, why does it ignore motorways?

off subject but i think theres a car pool lane already on the a4174 as it comes up to the m32 in bristol..maybe someone local can confirm this.....

Could it be that Garmin have messed up the routing - and chooses the most narrow, dangerous and slow roads possible when routing using the i3 and Nuvi???

I know my Nuvi seems to work harder and harder with each Garmin update, and searching out what is simply is the most danerous and narrow lanes, tracks and farm yards in stead of more obvious, faster and safer main roads

Got a car sharing lane on the ring road in Bristol. Doesn't work because every one uses it regardless of how many in the car. The police are too busy else where to do anything about it.

The route it sends you on might be faster than using the motorway or it could be the shortest distance depending on what you have your i3 set to ie fastet route or shortest route.

It's strange reading this post because my i3 tries to use motorways whenever possible now that I've upgraded to v.8 map. For the same routes v.7 was less inclined to use the local motorways (M6 / M56), so something has changed in the software.

If you've got the benefit of local knowedge then take the route you want and the Garmin will recalculate and change its route accordingly. Also if you want to use certain roads, you could insert a via point using INTERSECTIONS at a point on your preferred route.

It is not the settings, as if you know the area and choose a more sensible route (which of course isn't possible when you don't know the area), it recalculates, sometimes to much quicker times even with Fastest Route chosen (and I am not talking just 1 or 2 mins) - and in fact the route can be 15 - 20 mins different in reality, on a relatively short route (40-60min)
