Map Symbols

My Garmin I3 has the City Navigator Europe NT+ v8 mapsource on it, a friend has recently purchased the same product but running an older version of city navigator yet her map data shows symbols for all nearby POI's train stations/McDonalds/KFC etc etc, yet my map only shows me the symbol of the actual POI I select.

I have downloaded the same POI file onto both of our units, checked the settings are both the same but its still not showing me nearby POI's, is this a software problem?

I have just purchased and I am struggling to display any poi.I cannot find a selection point.

bevisnorth, usually to display any POI icon you select "Where To" then "Food, Hotels and More" then "Custom Points" then, following the further prompts, so on to the particular POI you're interested in. Once done you will then be able to either navigate to it, show map of it or find any other nearby POI.

However that said, I have on occasions come across certain anomalies with this procedure which prevent it from functioning as normal and for which, although I haven't found an explanation , I have at least found a work around.

If this is what is happening to you then I'll elaborate more.
