at the moment i am running a xda2i ,and as the xda exec looks to bulky ,i was thinking of buying one of these beauts instead ,has anyone here campaired a xda2i/xda exec with the 701 and which 1 is the better
taking into consideration i only use bluetooth and mainly for navigation and the odd phone call on the road via hands free

thanks

Well, I can recommend the 701, only a few small problems as posted in other threads. You also have the added bonus of not having a BT GPS flying around the dashboard (if you drive like I do). Better if you're on foot around a city too.

Battery life not brilliant with everything running, but that's to be expected. I'm sure a bigger battery will soon become available. I would also like room to stash a wifi sdio in the back cover somewhere but that's just being picky. Smile

also how does it operate in high built up areas and trees is it any worse than the wired type

It's a Sirf III gps, so is really good in city etc. You can easily get a fix, even indoors if you are in view of a window. As for the mount, I use an Akron vent mount which does the job just fine.

I just tye wrapped the holder that comes with it to an air vent. It works for me and just looks like a mobile phone holder to any passers bye.

The carry case that came with it has a slot inside to take an SD card

Yep, but the carry case is too bulky for me so I'll just stick the sdio in my wallet instead and forget about it until I need it.
