|
|
Can anyone help, My i3 seems to bypass motorways, I have tried to set it to0 both fastest and shortest route but it makes no differance. When i was going to Tamworth, it sent me up the A4 and not up the M5/M42. Coming back it was constantly trying to get me off the motorway??? Any ideas?? |

remember the a4 is a '60mph' road and the motorway is a '70mph' road .. the i3 takes into account the '10mph' difference and calcultates the faster/shorter route which probaly happens to be the a4...where are you coming from? _________________ *************************** |

Check that you have not set the unit to avoid highways (motorways)
Go into Setting/Navigation/Avoidances and make sure that Avoid Highways is uncecked.
Just a thought |

plan the route when you are indoors and because the i3
cant get the satelittes, it prompts you for a simulation mode.. _________________ *************************** |

dixie uncheck u turns. they come in handy if it sends you down a cul de sac. it will re route you quicker in any case if it can chuck in a u turn.
as mentioned above try a simulation.
turn the gps setting to off, select destination and then yes to simulation. see where this takes you. it may be that the "a" road is close enough to a motorway for it to take it as such.
keep in mind that the system is really only a guide and will never be as good as local knowledge. it doesn't stop you from using it navigating the way you want to, it just makes it recalculate. this is always handy if there is an unexpected road closure or diversion ahead.
who knows by trying the routes it sets might suprise you. |

You don't actually have to say yes to the simulation.
Just turn the GPS off. Then you can set any position you want as the start point. Then set your end point. Then do the whole calculate route thing. When it's calculated, say NO to the simulation - unless you want to sit around for ages, whilst it simulates the route in real-time.
Press the back button, move down to review turns, then when the turns are shown, press the wheel. |

dixie uncheck toll roads aswell incase you ever venture north via birmingham
leave unpaved checked. this will stop it sending you down dirt tracks through farms and unadopted roads not suitable for cars etc.
carpool lanes setting depends on how many you might have down south, they are better known as car shareing lanes. we dont have any up north. |
