Hi,

My now ageing iCN510 seems to be clagging up a bit, especially in busy areas where it is finding it hard to keep up with me and ocassionally locks up when I manually zoom in or out the screen. It obviously needs a bit of a clean-out. I remember seeing something about this on here a year or so ago but I can't seem to find the thread now. It related to cleaning out some sort of backup files or something??

If anyone knows how to perform some routine maintence I would love to hear about it.

Thanks!

One option would be to soft reset it. If that doesn't work, a hard reset would do the trick - If you gave not been adding data such as more maps or POIs to it, it will be as fast as it was when new.

Thanks Robert,

I've had to soft reset it while on the move and although it helps (as does a hard reset), the problem comes back whenever the unit is working hard.

I knwo there is some sort of backup files or something that can be deleted to help speed things up but I can't find the posts that referred to it some time ago.

Have you tried deleting Recents? There's option somewhere in Preferences to delete user data -- Recents, Favourites, Avoid Areas.
