I'm hoping to buy a Globalsat Receiver to plug into my Dell Axim CF slot. However I understand TomTom also requires a 128MB CF card - how do I have both the reciever and the Memory card plugged into 1 slot ??

thanks Graham

Graham, the Dell Axim's usually have two storage slots, one is an SD card slot (Secure Digital), the other is CF (Compact Flash).

Just buy a 128mb SD card, and purchase the GlobalSat CF GPS and you should be okay. Thumbs Up

As Dave says, by far the best thing to do is to put your maps on SD card. On the Axim X5, there's no SDIO support, so the only thing you can use the SD slot for is SD memory anyway.

256MB seems to be at the 'sweet spot' for price/capacity right now - bearing in mind that the full TomTom 2 Great Britain map is 95MB. However, you can get away with 128MB if you don't want ot put other things (backups, MP3s, eBooks etc.) on the card.

The best web site I know of on this subject is here. Whilst there are now working Sandisk cards around, it seems that the best advice is still to buy a SimpleTech card.

The cheapest source I know of for SimpleTech cards is ebuyer.com - though they're a little hard to find there. If you go to that site, click UK, then search for "SimpleTech SD" you'll see the cards that are in stock. At the moment, 128MB and 256MB are on back order. If you click to view all n results (at the moment, all 3 results), you can then select "All items" and press Filter.

Jon, the author of the web site I mentioned earlier, has reviewed the 256MB card. :D
