Garmin has released this update for the i3:

Changes made from version 2.70 to 2.81 BETA:

* Improved address searches to allow for selecting which map to search on when multiple maps are available.
* Improved city searches to search across all available maps.
* Added support for New Zealand regional settings.
* Improved the timing of voice guidance prompts.

Another proof that the i3 is alive and kicking. Also looks like it is going more international. GREAT.

Should you update to a Beta? Nope, unless you are prepared for any consequences. Betas have normally been well tested but you never know.... You CAN if you want to. There's no reason why you SHOULD.

i disagree. ipods are a 'fashion accessory', a creative zen sleek is a very good player that whoops the pants off the ipod but is relatively unknown.

the i3 is the creative zen sleek of the sat nav world, the tom tom is the ipod - everyone's heard of it but very few realise there are actually better alternatives.

Don't think that anyone in the US (or indeed anywhere outside Europe) has heard of TomTom though. They may even laugh if you mention the name.

Can the early adopters post their findings, please?

I'll start the ball rolling - I've gone for this current beta 2.82, and so far not encountered any issues - although I've only done GPS-off routes (which curiously have some differences from previously generated, GPS-off routes, on earlier firmware).

I assume i'll loose all stored waypoints (home, etc etc) and POIs. Correct?
