Hi all
After browsing through the forum tonight, I noticed this posting:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=33517
and it has got me somewhat concerned.
I bought my TomTom go 500 on boxing day 2005 from comet.
Could anyone tell me what the current GB map version is please, as i have V571 plus map and when was this version released? Was this map version out of date when i purchased the unit?
If i do have an out of date map, then is this an old stock unit? Is there anything the retailer or TomTom can do about it? As i believe i should of had a Version 2 TomTom 500 that also came with the six months free plus services voucher, which i didn't get. Do i have gounds for a exchange or free map update?
Hope you lot have the answers

At that date I would think the V571 was one of the latest Maps available. It would have taken several weeks for the units to leave TT to finally get to you.
I think that too much is made of the version numbers of the maps. There are different sequences for whether you it is the Country Specific Map, the Plus Map or the Map of Western Europe. Most are cosmetic issues or minor amendments anyway.
New Maps usually come out in May, and I would think the best option would be to wait till then and upgrade to the 'V6' Maps.

If I remember correctly, there is no such thing as a Version 2 TomTom 500. I believe the Retailer was asked about this, and corrected the error.
TT were doing there own free period of Plus Services. If that is what you mean, it was nothing to do with the Retailer. You had to apply to TomTom online to claim that. _________________ Richard

On the boxing day 2005 v5.xx had been obsolete for about one month. |
