Dera All,
I am completly new to satnav. I bought TomTom 3 but was second hand of ebay and couldnt get it to work but got a full refund. I am after a brand new piece of satnav for my pda. I have the GPS and everything but is this destinator version four any good?
I have never heard pf it and whats the advantages and disadvantages against TomTom 3. Does it have full Post Code search or is there a website page which lists all possible questions?
All I want is some navigation which can navigate around spain very well and obviousley the UK would this do?
Anybody also know the best offer on this software around? - Hope this doesnt brake any of the forum rules if so sorry!!!!
Thanks in advance |

about 4 lines down in this forum at time of posting. Be quick:

As for pros and cons, sort of covered it here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=35597
If you want sexy looking interface with easy speed cameras then go Tom Tom or something but expect to part with about £140.00 if you want Spain.
Destinator PN is good but it won't impress yer bird. Neither will it be as easy to use as it could be. But it navigates well across Europe (I use it regularly... it's Italy's turn this week) and it certainly does the job. But read this forum to death first. i don't want to be the man who recommends it to discover that you wanted something a bit more intuitive.
Apologies if I'm a bit abrupt but most of this is covered in here somewhere.
BTW no it doesn't do full PostCode search. Bit of a pain with industrial estate addresses and the odd house with no number in rurals but if you get full EU maps and proggie for under £60.00 can you live with it? _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Co-Pilot looks good at first glance. Has some cool features but I've only ever used the CE version on a Gismondo device. Have a look through their forum. I think it gets expensive when you get European maps though.
BTW forgot to mention that if you ever have a TMC reciever, Destinator PN is capable of rerouting automatically around traffic. But if this is a feature you like it might be worth checking out the Navigon software too. That may do a better job. Currently you have to rack up a GPRS bill to do the same with Tom Tom although that might change soon.
But that price on the link I gave you for Euro maps Destinator PN is well worth it. You won't get ANYTHING with a full set of NAVTEQ european maps at that price. Thats a steal.
The biggest problem with GPS is that you shell out a fortune then discover you don't like it. At that price it would be an ideal way to get into GPS, find out what you do and don't need, and if you ditch it after 6 months or a year it wouldn't hurt as much.
And there is no perfect system. They all have pros and cons and its your usage that dictates which is the best. So you really just have to do your homework. Sorry Mate. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Input forst 4 digits of PC then the street then the number. Sometimes you get houses on a long road that don't have a number and full postcode would be handy. Or for example Ikea in leeds is on an unnamed road to all intents and purposes. The other hapfs Tom Tom will find it but Destinator doesn't. Just gets you close. But in reality its a rare occurance and if you are at home when you plot your route you can always use Multimap or something. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720
