Medion PPC 150 Help

I've spent all day searching google and couldn't find anything remotely similar so i thought i'd post here.

I have a medion ppc 150 with a built in annteanna which was working fine when i got it but a couple of days later in the car the firmware 'dissappeared'. When I open the system utility I get the error message 'can't open com 1'. I can't find anywhere to set up com1, has anyone else had this problem?

I'm taking the unit back but was hoping there would be a quick fix, i've tried downloading and applying the latest update from Medion with no joy and I've also tried the old firmware.
