This has happened a couple of times.
All the entries just disappeared from Favourites. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know why this happens or how to fix this?
Many Thanks. |

There was a similar thread to this on the TomTom forum - a couple of people suggested it might be a result of switching off the PDA without first exiting the application. One went so far as to say that he found it necessary to wait about 5 seconds after exiting the application before switching off the PDA because TomTom continued running for a couple of seconds. Maybe your problem has a similar cause.

The most likely cause of loss of favorites on the PPC is SD card memory being full, which can occur after you accumulate too many GPSTracks in \Storage Card\My Documents\GPSTracks.
If so, use the desktop CP menu "GPS, Submit GPS Tracks.." to automatically remove (and submit) these files, as the easiest way to remove them. Or you can delete the *.gps files, but see other threads first on how to display GPS tracks because these files have interesting trip data.
I have heard of loss of favorites due to soft reset or other improper exit from CoPilot. This is possible because the Favorites.lst file is re-written only on successful exit.
Copy your favorites.lst to desktop occasionally to preserve most of it. _________________ Doug

I can confirm from experience what Robin2 suggests above. Resetting the PPC while Copilot is running does often result in the loss of the "Favourites". I can also confirm that TomTom loses similar information under similar circumstances. No doubt BWMBiker's scenario is just as valid.
I say "Favourites" rather than Favourites because this is a list not of favourites but of recently used stops and destinations. Favourites may well be included in there, but it is a case of finding them among everything else. Also, any amount of experimental route planning or place finding will soon push anything that really is a favourite off the end as and when the capacity of the list is exceeded. _________________ Dell Axims X50v & X30 (both WM 2003 2nd Edition). Yes, a "favorite" on the PPC is defined to be any destination you ever entered, intentionally or by mistake. You accumulate too many of these and it is tedious to edit out the unwanted ones.
Favorites on the PC include only those destinations in the Trip Planner for which you explicitly press Add to Favorites. You get too few of these, because here on the desktop you might actually like to see recently entered stops of all kinds.
And, to repeat, there is poor integration between the separate favorites.lst files. It ought to be easy to merge them, and to do major editing on the desktop with standard editors. _________________ Doug

The solution is to have separate Favourites and Recent Stops/Destinations lists - in line with other applications such as TomTom Navigator or Dell Navigator. _________________ Dell Axims X50v & X30 (both WM 2003 2nd Edition).
