You will only get the text to speach spoken alerts IF you use a computer voice, also the options for setting up the spoken text must be performed via the Go-910 screen, if you use the TomTom Home software you will not see the options to enter the text (probably as the home software is generic and can be used across different devices), so the "extras" within the 910 are not covered.
I loaded the POICapture utility onto my 910 the other week, it will capture a location BUT it fails to add the POI, so there is nothing stored within the POI file, however there is a text file that is generated, this contains the correct information, but it means you must pull the file off the GO-910 each time you dock the device. Then edit the text file in note pad to obtain the data, Lutz is aware of this issue - Mike

I've owned this product a mere two weeks and after just 2 uses it fell apart. The screen froze and couldn't be turned off, causing it to overheat which than caused the screen to crack when touched. To make matters worse the company refused to replace or fix a clearly defective model and wanted to charge an ADDITIONAL $500 to fix. So if you've got the money to throw away and want to invest in a product that even its own producers won't stand by, by all means purchase it.

I am considering buy the 510, but have heard bad things about the power connection when using the mount. Is this a problem that any of you have experienced, and should I be worried?

On some mounts the vibration causes a momentary loss of power, which causes the unit to switch off as it thinks the ignition has been turned off. This has been "cured" in the latest software by simply removing the auto-power-off feature.

No *personal* experience. Still perfectly happy with my Go300 Smile (though new maps would be nice!).

BTW, are there differences between a TomTom 910 sold in Europe and one sold in the USA?

Having a brother in California, the difference between $584 and 699 EUR is tempting...

The devices should be identical.

The UK model: http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=212&Section=338&Category=0&Lid=1 and USA model: http://www.tomtom.com/products/section.php?ID=268&Section=339&Category=0&Lid=4 appear to be totally identical in maps, specifications and what is included inside the product box.

Well, something is missing from the US version.

This sentence: "... with several international pin adapters, for use anywhere in the world (when using an adaptor, please make sure it stays cool by placing it in a ventilated area)."
