problem backing card up

im trying to backup my SD card of European maps, i can copy all the files to a folder on my PC with my card reader but i get a I/O error when trying to copy them back to a new SD card.
IIve tried backing up using the tomtom but when ive backed up the whole tomtom and take out the SD card and insert the new one my tomtom isnt recognised. what am i doing wrong?

I assume you have the lock tab set to unlock on the SD card.

It could be a dodgy SD card. I have a 1gb card that works fine in one card reader but is not recognised in another, refuses to work in my TT Go 500 and is unrecognised most of the time in my iPaq. Other cards work fine.

Have you tried another card?

thanks, after messing with it ive come to the conclusion it is indeed a faulty SD card:(
