REALLY STUPID

Hi everyone,
This is my 1st post, and I really need ur help.
I have bought one of those PDA/GPS car mount kit that allows me to stick the holder on the windshield.
It works well... quite solid... the problem is that now that it is stuck, is there any way to remove it if I need to???

isnt it just a suction cup thats on it ? you would release the lever you pushed down to secure it then on the edge of the suction cup will be a little tag to pull to break the seal 8O

No it is not exactly like this. The suction was to hold the device on a circular base which is "glued" to the windshield. It was easy to release the device (as u said.. question of releasing the suction). But now, I am stuck with this circular base that is glued to the winshield. I am not sure what kind of material they used... but it is very very strong...

As far as I know the disk shouldn't be stuck to the windscreen, you just used the sucker directly onto the glass. I seem to recall that the desk is included in the box so that you can stick that to the top of the dashboard as an alternative position to attach the sucker.

The instructions mentioned that you should be sure when installing the disk as it is extremely hard to remove. I would suggest warming it with a hairdryer before slipping some sort of blade between it and the glass. However, be prepared to some hard work getting the rest of the goo off the glass.

Try WD40 (or similar) to get off the goo once you've removed the disk. Normally works really well on things like that.

I find this product quite good at removing most "glue" type substances http://www.ronson.com/products/index.htm (Liquid Lighter fuel) only use a small amount on a cloth to apply it, as it can attack the dash boards of some cars. Its readily available from most newsagents etc. It is highly flamable as its petrol so don't smoke if using this idea and make sure the vehicle is well ventilated - Mike

just simply use abit of white spirit if the goo is stuck.

a cheap can of deoderant (60p from wilko's) does the trick for most sticky stuff - just don't use anti-perspirant cos ya get loadsa white bits everywhere...

There's a product you can buy at the chemist (I think it's called Elastoff) which is used to remove the residue from elastoplast sticking plasters. They're like baby wipes and work a treat with stickers on new crockery etc. As a previous poster wrote, heat up the reside with a hair dryer, then try using one of these wipes.
