Hi,

I recently purchased the Glabalsat BR-355 wired GPS for use with my PDA, a Toshiba e330, running on Pocket PC 2002. I also bought an adapter cable to connect the GPS receiver to my PDA. I have TOMTOM navigator 5.21 installed on the PDA. However, I have been struggling to get the GPS to work.

After connecting the BR-355 to the power outlet in my car ( a Ford Focus), I can see the red indicator light on the GPS was flashing, suggesting the GPS has locked onto satellites and functioned correctly.

The same cable also connects to my PDA. I can see the PDA battery was being charged up, so the cable connection was working.

But TOMTOM did not recognise the GPS at all, even though I configured it to use the settings as recommended in the Br-355 user manual.

So I installed the driver program that came on the BR-355 CD, and I picked the COM port 1 and subsequently other available ports, still the PDA does not recognise the BR-355.

Having read some comments on the forum, I disabled the infra-red beam function, but still no luck.

I thought this might be TOMTOM not supporting the GPS, so I uninstalled TOMTOM, and installed the GPS viewer program that came with the BR-355 CD, even this program does not recognise the GPS.

Has anyone had the same problem before? Is this because of a faulty cable? Is there anything else I could try to make this work? please help! Thanks!

Alex

Are you absolutely sure the e330 has a serial port?
