Can someone please explain to me, in very simple terms because I'm a bit slow, exactly how to use the 'intersections' option in the 'where to' menu. Confused

you simply type in the name of the intersection and it finds it for you... intersection = junction. for example type 'five lane ends' and it will take you to five lane ends in idle, bradford. or, i think you can type in the name of a main road and it will give you a list of major junctions on that road.

I had hoped that I would be able to enter say junction 38 on the M6 but this doesn't seem to be the case.

That's what I was hoping for, too, but it doesn't seem to provide that.

It's probably great for intersections of road names you know the name for but I tried, recently, to use it for an intersection of a motorway and a numbered A road, and it wouldn't do that.

If you know which road number is at that junction you can do it that way. Type in the first road name and the it will ask you for the second. It will then take you to where they intersect.

I suspect that some of the problem being that often when motorways meet named A roads, there's often a bit of "ramp" or link road, before it actually gets to the A road.

When I tried it, according to maps (like multimap) it showed the numbered A road actually meeting the motorway at the junction, but the i3 wouldn't accept it.

I used this last week to find the Apollo Manchester which lies on the intersection of Stockport Road and Hyde Road. It took me to the nearby town of Hyde and told me I had arrived at my destination.
