Hi! We see you’re using an ad-blocker. We’re fine with that and won’t stop you visiting the site.
But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!

I've recently purchased TTN2 after reading this website for several months (thanks for the help!) and have begun to use the POI overlays. Some of them seem a little out of date, which is fair enough (someone has put in loads of effort to put them together and I'm very grateful), but I'd like to make a suggestion. Would it be possible to date-stamp the posting of the overlay? That way, it would be possible to see that, for instance, a supermarket overlay is out of date, and shouldn't be heavily relied on.

Hi Mike, We'll certainly take that suggestion on-board but as with all such resources it's always difficult to ensure 100% accuracy, databases such as Supermarkets will change litte, new stores may open but existing stores rarely close whereas POI lists for Petrol Stations are rarely valid for long as they seem to open and close with alarming speed!
And don't forget that now you have TTN2 you can amend any errors in our POI' s and resubmit them for updating _________________ Darren Griffin - Editor

If you download the OV2 files from the TomTom POI page rather than the Sync serivce, the OV2 will have the last modified date stamp on it when you look inside the ZIP file. Unfortunately we can't do this with the POI-Sync service for the OV2, or for the ZIP file itself because as soon as you download it, it will have a newly modified timestamp as it has entered your PC (any contents within a zip will have their original modified times frozen in time).
We could look at modifying the comments of the POI-Sync service and adding a column for the POI's on the TomTom POI web page and this would be a good idea, but this would require further work and more careful updates. It's certainly possible, but it all adds time to what we do (which we have little of). We'll certainly add it to the updates we plan to make to the site in general.
