Just ordered a Medion MDPPC150 with Medion 5 Navigation Software for UK and Ireland.

I really need to get some European maps and it appears that Medion Navigator 4.2 software plus all European maps can be bought quite cheaply on ebay.

My question is this. Can this unit run with the 4.2 software quite easily (in as much as just swapping over an SD card) or am I snookered.

Any other cheap options for European navigation with this unit would be greatly appreciated.

The Medion 5 software on your unit cannot run the maps from the 4.2 version. The v5.xx software is quite different to the v4.xx so you would need to install the v4.2 gps program as well, but it needs the registration code for the maps to work? As long as both the gps program with code and maps are in the package then you can use it on your unit.

You can leave the v5 on your unit and load the v4.2 as well, the only restriction would be the size of your sd card. You would need at least 1GB card for several maps to be stored on, that would allow maybe the 2 UK maps for v5 & v4 + about 4-5 other country maps for v4.2.

You can use say a 2GB sd card x50 speed on your unit without problems.
