hi there,

I have a TomTom One I purchased for my wife, and I also have unused European maps that I got for my PocketPC version of TomTom.

So I copied the whole of the TomTom One SD card onto my PC, then copied it back to my new 1gb SD card, and loaded the maps.

The TomTom One won't start, it shows an animation of the SD card being removed and a big X over it!

Putting the origional SD card back in and all is fine.

so 2 questions, how can I use this larger SD card and will the maps I have work on TomTom One?

regards,

greg

Did you try it after you copied the original back to the !GB Card first?

How, and what, did you actually do?

Go on, give us a clue. Smile

If you use a card reader that may be the problem, just connect the ONE to your main PC, copy the original card data to your main PC, then put the new card in your ONE and copy it back.

NOTE: if you did use a card reader then put the NEW card into it, delete the files before doing the above or it will not work.

For a copy via the card reader, you would also need to ensure that your Windows Explorer file options are set so that hidden files are displayed. Otherwise you may not be copying all files.

right, I now have my TT1 connected via USB to the PC, all files on the TT1 are on the other SD card, so copying either via explorer (with show hidden files on) or via connecting the TT1 up isn't working.

Next to try the backup/restore option that came with the TT1......

hmm, can't seem to edit my post, copying when TT1 was connected via the USB cable appears to have worked :D
