upgrade path from iQue 3600

I've been using the iQue 3600 for almost 4 years now for automobile navigation. I'm very happy with it. But it's not-very-bright screen is starting to irritate me given that much brighter screens are now available.

Also, small electronics don't last forever and the unit is getting old.

So I'm starting to plan for my next upgrade and am coming up with a big zero.

I'm not interested in going back to a small screen like my eTrex has. Small screens are fine for hiking and bicycle rides but not for driving.

I'm also not interested in any of the Nuvi's because they do not allow saving routes and do not allow multiple waypoints/vias so that I can customize the route exactly the way I want to go. (Why Garmin neglected those on the Nuvi is beyond me - big mistake!)

The Streetplots are too large (fat) and have too small a screen. The fatness is important because I take the iQue on business trips and use it in the rental car. Can't easily fit a streetplot into my computer carry-on bag.

The Quest has a small screen.

So, am I correct that I currently have no upgrade path with Garmin? At least not until they revamp the Nuvi line and add so simple a feature as saving multiple routes to memory and allowing for multiple waypoints in a route?
