Price of Downloadable TomTom Maps

Just been looking at the price of the downloadable TomTom maps, and they strike me as a bit of a rip off. To get the complete coverage of Western Europe as far as I can see you would need to download 7 maps @ Eur59.95 each, which if my arithmetic is right comes to a total of Eur419.65. Compare this with the CD version of Western Europe (which also includes the TomTom S/W) which only costs Eur199.

Also why is there no version number/date of the downloadable maps given. At those prices I'd want to be sure that it was a new version of the map before forking out for it.
