I've got a Bluetooth BT77 GPS reciever and an O2 Exec (WM5) device.

If I select the Com port of the GPS directly then the Com Port doesn't appear in the "Other NMEA Device" selection in TomTom

If I select the Com port via the WM5 GPS application then even when using "Other NMEA Device" if the phone stack is disabled then TomTom will display (Flight Mode) and refuse to display the GPS, even though Bluetooth is enabled.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Flight mode generally means just that ALL radios are off for safety (BT, WIFI and Phone irrespective of the settings tab it will over-ride these as a single switch to turn them all off, enable the phone and the bluetooth then you will be OK to use the GPS via BT - Mike

On the Exec there is a "Wireless Manager" and within that you can disable each of the stacks individually.
Disabling the phone stack (even with the BT stack enabled) will switch TT in to Flight Only mode and prevent it from finding the BT GPS reciever.

The answer according to the 5.2 bug list is to use NMEA Cable device, however switching to that (only possible via the WM5 GPS app) still causes the same problem.
