Downloadable map of France

This might sound like a stupid question, but I am fairly new to Satnav. I have a Tom Tom Go 500 which I have used to navigate myself round the UK and I am extemely pleased with the results - haven't got lost once!!

I have just had an e-mail from Tom Tom advertising the downloadable maps of countries in Europe but can anyone tell me if the downloadable map of France for example has greater detail ie street level, than the map that comes with the TTG500? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the map of France is a street-level map, what you have now is Major roads of Europe with plenty of smaller streets and roads missing
