Apologies - I should have looked around the forum before posting. Its just with returning to the forum after some time away, this thread caught my attention, and instant concern about my Socket unit triggered me to make a tired late-night posting.
I'm not sure if it will help, but I'm going to take the precaution of not overcharging the Socket unit in the future, as it would seem overcharging could possibly be a factor in some of the TomTom BT GPS units failing.
Also I'm going to keep my wired Leadtek 9532 with me for backup on important journeys from now on. |

Hi,
i have the same problem too. But maybe i have found a workaround for take it apart to get it working again. I have switched the power switch on/off really fast. After that i switched it on again and the green led was on again. |

Hi,
same problem... I left the unit on overnight to drain the battery. Plugged it into the mains charger next morning and it was working again.
Not the kind of thing you can whilst in the middle of a journey!
I've emailed Itochu's support department with details of this problem - waiting for their feedback.

The problem happened again a second time.
Contacted Handnav where I bought the unit from and he promised to get back to me, which he didn't.
Anyway, I then contacted Emtac in the UK and was pleasantly surprised when I got a phone call within the hour from them. The chap (Graham) was very helpful. He said that Emtac's customer service was important and wanted to help resolve this situation.
Graham recommended I send the unit back to Handnav and ask for a replacement (not a repair).
I did this and Handnav then got active. They sorted out a new one for me which thus far (fingers crossed) is working.
A couple of points:
1. If your unit fails, don't be tempted to open it up to try and fix it.
2. Mine was 5 months old but I still got a new one as a replacement. The new consumer laws put the onus on the seller to prove that the unit was not defective when shipped out - you have six months coverage on this from memory.
3. I'm really happy with Emtac's UK support - getting the call and then numerous email messages including the option of direct support if my supplier couldn't/wouldn't help out.
Regards,
Al. |

Reading the information of several other people who are using the Emtac receiver I found out that I'm not the only one with the "green LED" problem.
I tried the solution by leaving on the receiver for two days and found out that it was the solution for me. Anyway I decided to send the receiver for repair because I don't like hardware that stops functioning when you need is.
Thanks for the tips anyway |

I've also experienced the "no green light" problem, after 4 weeks of working OK it died in the middle of Manchester, got lost, bad news. Tried a 24hour discharge, didn't work, then read in this thread it could take up to 2 weeks to fully discharge!! I got mine as part of the Wayfinder package from TotalPDA. They are going to replace it. |
