But as we’re losing ad-revenue from this then why not make a donation towards website running costs?. Or you could disable your ad-blocker for this site. We think you’ll find our adverts are not overbearing!
From some of the answers above, you are confirming what I was told on a previous post, that it is possible to use TT Mobile 5 on a Pocket PC Smartphone, (such as the Orange SPV M500) despite what TomTom themselves say – they say I’d need to buy TT Navigator…
I’m on the verge of getting an M500 (or an MDA Compact, if Orange don’t drop their upgrade price…) to replace my C500, so can someone let me have an idiots’ step-by-step guide to what I need to do.
Also, seeing as I’m reliant on Traffic to get me home on the M62 each evening, will this…’work around’ allow me to carry on using this service?

If you already have the maps on your C500 then I think you can download the Pocket PC version of TomTom and it should work with your existing C500 maps.
Note that the M500 (HTC Magician) is quite different to the C500 Smartphone. Software that works on the C500 doesn't work on the MDA/M500 and vice versa - the softkeys are missing, the screen is a different size and the interface is quite different (touch vs keypad).
The good news is that most Pocket PC applications I have tried run on the MDA as if it was an ordinary PDA. On the C500, most things wouldn't run unless they were specifically designed for the Smartphone.
The differences between T-Mobile and Orange phones are:
M500 (HTC Magician) = Windows Mobile 2003SE, 416Mhz CPU
MDA Compact II (HTC Charmer) = Windows Mobile 2005, 195Mhz CPU
My advice, hang on for the M600 (HTC Prophet) with WiFi although they will be hot property and might be a bit expensive.
