I always cited PGPSW as one of the greatest people-power rebellions against a shocking government system. The fact that it was free allowed a huge userbase, and so the 2% that made up contributors was a big enough figure to keep the accuracy high.
Now, of course, the userbase will plummet. I wonder if the sales of TT's will fall too?
A great internet institution lost to the ways of the commercial world.

well said mate.
Always thought the whole point of a speed camera database was to go against the point of them ( revenue generator ) and here you are doing the same. Bit hypocritical really... |

Like Road Angel, Snooper, Morpheous, Talex, and the many others? At the end of the day it's a small investment, whether you wish to join or not is your choice of course. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Firstly I notice that you have now decided to give free lifetime membership to all who give details of a new camera - that is much better as i thought the free one month you originally offered was a bit tight. Is it only to the very first person who reports or to all those that report before it goes on the database?
Second point - I want to subscribe - went in this morning to try but I cant click on the paypal thingy - it is not active - just says coming soon. How soon please? You want my money when can I give it to you? _________________ Peter

Hi Peter,

Yes, it is the first person that reports the camera.
The member's active subscription will be extended free for life if they report just one previously unreported, deleted or altered static speed camera position. (Must consequently be verified by PocketGPSWorld.com.)
We monitor all submissions very carefully and the member will be notified if we use their submission. If they are successful we will let them know and automatically extend their current membership. They must be a current member with an active account to benefit from the offer.

Many apologies for this. What we first thought was a simple(ish) integration job turned out to be a lot more complicated and, importantly, more time consuming. PayPal, in itself, is quite easy to put in place, but marrying it up to our particular membership system is taking more time than anticipated. Hopefully it'll be there by the weekend. Again, apologies for the delay. |

Hi Fibre,
If you go to
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras
it will take you through the process.
For future reference, Speed Cameras are linked to in the left-hand navigation under 'Our Site' and the top right (under the logo) on all pages.
There are now 8005 cameras in the new database with 185 additions and 419 changes applied in this release. |

Ive had a look at the new web page regarding the subscription. Still no link or who to contact with details to my past camera positions that I reported to you. To enable the free lifetime subsciption that you have offered to all members that have given you camera positions.
Are you still sorting this out? I don't wish to be behind on a update for my camera database.
Thanks once again.

I must say you are very quick to reply, you don't get this sort of service from alot of other forums I must say.
When i'm out in my car, even for a short journey I always connect my PDA just in case I see a new camera. So yesterday I decided to go to my local brand new asda store and did not take my PDA. And guess what, as I was going up towards the store a mobile camera partnership van parked on the PATH catching all the asda shoppers.

I find it rather annoying that after adding cameras and modifying cameras on 'my patch' over several months that I am 'overlooked' and will have to prove my membership and wait! |

If its somewhere local to you, why not just "browse map" and add the camera position that way? |
