Actually, no. Not going to happen anytime soon. If you need something corrected, let us know.

As you are so adamant about it, could you possibly let us know your reasons?
I, for one, would stop banging on about it if I understood your concerns...

I Have seen editing work in totally different ways. With unlimited access to edit a troll can submit a post, start a flame war then edit his original post to change stance. On the other hand some of the better laid out forums allow posts to be edited for a limited period. On one particular forum I use this is set at one hour. Enough time to check out if you are happy with the layout/typos/after thoughts, sometimes missed in the preview. The posts are marked as "edited" and include a time stamp for transparency.
Theres nothing worse than making a total rAse of yourself due to typos.

Dave, don't you use the little 'Quote' icon that is at the top right hand corner of every posted message? (It's the easiest way to do the quoting bit)

JK,

I do use the icon but I used it and pasted in the quote but then remembered I hadn't wrote who the quote was from so I wrote that then pressed the quote icon again but I forgot where the cursor was, then the mists descended and it all went pear shaped. Hell its new years eve anyway.

Hi All. Just as an extra couple of points to this thread.

1st. I sent in 5 camera points from the Worksop and surrounding area in October and have just downloaded the latest (December) info and they dont appear to be on yet. as we turn proffesional is this going to be the case or is the information going to be updated quicker. After all the point of downloading the database on a monthly basis is that it is the latest that is available. Will attach a copy of email incase we have anyone in the area that is new.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for the update. If I cannot identify the locations on my maps then I will contact you again.
Richard

Hi. Am sending details of 5 locations in the Worksop, Notts and surrounding area that are not listed. They are all mobile cameras. I have listed the junctions they are held closest to. I hope this is a suitable way of listing and you can add to your database. If not can you advise how to list and i will try to resubmit.

Styrrup- Jnct of B6463 Main Street and Oaklands Drive

Carlton in Lindrick- Jnct of A60 Doncaster Road and Granary Court.

Blyth/ Bawrty- Jnct of A614 Bawtry Rd and The Woodlands (this does not show on the TTGo map but is on multi map).

Worksop- Jnct of B6040 Retford Road and Hardwicke Road East.

Worksop- Jnct of B6041 Gateford Road and Ashes Park Avenue.

These places are all manned on a weekly basis. Thanks for your help and congratulations on keeping a great site running and updated. Regards Bill........

2nd. Has anyone realised that using PayPal to pay on a monthly basis is going to cost the site a lot more in commisions than if paid yearly. I use them for ebay selling and it appears that there is a minimum charge of 30p which reduces % wise as you receive more money. This should be taken into account with the yearly discounts. (hope that makes sense Laughing Out Loud).

Happy New Year all and lets hope we have a picture free one Wink

We are fully aware of that. Also there will be 17.5% VAT to be taken into account as well.

We would obviously prefer yearly subscriptions but didnt want to force anyone to commit for the year, especially people who have not used the database before.

The more attractive you can make the members area of the site relative to the non-members, the more likely it is people will subscibe to a membership rather than pay the odd download fee. I hesitate to suggest this, but is there a case for starting a wishlist for the members site?

Happy New Year everybody

Just downloaded the new database and pleased to see it has a lot of the mobile sites in and around Edinburgh at least now appearing. I just hope that this increased accuracy continues when the membership comes into play.

re the memberships for contributions, how will this work for submissions from multiple members? e.g. I sent two in last night and one of them now appears on the database. I assume someone else has also sent this in as I doubt it was mine as the other camera on the same road does not appear (and it was only a few hours before the release)

I would hope that it would still count as it was not in the previous release and think that this would be the approach taken on free months for future updates as I cant think how else you could 'openly' manage this.

Anyway, Happy New Year everyone! I'm of to get another hangover 8)

Hello Sunter

If You Update The Database With Precise Information Then Richard Will Put Them On Almost Straight Away
As On The Readme.txt File In The Download
Longitude,Latitude,Name:m@nn,"Information #A" where
-0.12345,51.23456,Davies:1@40,"A325 Farnborough Road. Northbound #G"

People Do Complain About The Positions Being Out Sometimes

Quote:
It was detecting cameras around 100 yards away from where the actual cameras where

Hope This Helps
Happy New Year

or use streetmap.co.uk, zoom into where the location is, mark it, then copy the url and forward it onto Richard with, the details and speed etc of that road and what type of speed enforcement it is (gatso, mobile, specs, etc)

Dear Mods,

Been following all the charging debate over the last fortnight or so and looks like you have managed to quell rebellion in the ranks...

BUT

There are another group of people you seem to be neglecting - or perhaps haven't considered.

I live just outside a very big city and decided to have a critical look at the local cameras. I assumed they would all be good but in view of other posts re accuracy I thought I'd check them.

Most were ok - though their positioning was a bit suspect in place. Some had the wrong speed limit. Interestingly one was missing - and it has been there for at least a year .

Some of which can be two way are only marked as one way and vice versa

For the temporary sites - the info seemed well out of date - wrong speed limits in places - but a lot of the obvious ones missing. And a lot in seemingly random places where I've never seen a speed trap

For a city of this size I'm surprised it isn't all spot on. Surely there must be hundreds of members that drive through my area.

The cut off for lifetime membership was rather abrupt - we cannot all be glued to our pcs 24x7

So to submit or not?

Bearing in mind it is now a "commercial" operation and pgps will be making money out of my data.

To drive to said missing camera and accurately get position info
It will "cost" time, petrol, use of several hundred pounds worth of kit - transferring this from the ppc to pc and emailing.

Or validating anyone of a number within a 25-mile radius

And what do you get? A two pound credit.

So what is the incentive for me to post this data? At least under the free model it was for the greater good. But now?

OK so eventually someone will post these corrections. But in the meantime one of your "inner circle" could get done.

And this is just in one part of the UK. Scale this up and what have you got?
A lot of accurate info - but a lot of duff gen, crying wolf etc. If you are outside your patch then being lulled into a false sense of security.

So surely posting info or validating existing data should earn membership. Anyone who doesn't - or uses the data for commercial purposes should pay
