I always suggest buying an adapter that plugs into a mains socket and allows you to connect devices that have a cigarette lighter charger lead.

They come in incredibly useful for all manner of stuff and are very cheap.

See here.

This adapter is fine - your TomTom lead will supply the correct voltage to your TT.

You need a normal SD card - this one is on the same site : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/8622.htm

The Mains-12v cigarette lighter adapter outputs 12v so will power any device that has a cigarette lighter lead.

The ONE takes about 2hrs to fully charge.

The SD card is the full size one and not the mini-SD.

How long does it take to charge and I guess you have to keep an eye on it as it doesnt turn off when fully charged like some?

It won't overcharge. The Lithium-Ion battery can be left on charge for over 24 hr.

Modern batteries (used in laptops and the TomTom) are Lithium Ion which don't need to be run down before charging like older batteries.

You may be better checking your card by looking at the first post in this forum : http://www.mytomtomgo.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=18&sid=935f11355b6ba917f0c4537b5bbc96ed before making your purchase as there are ones which don't seem to work well.

I purchased a 256mb Integral HIGH SPEED SD Card from Maplin Online for £19.99 and this works fine with my TomTom One and it's loaded with voices, POI's, etc.

I tried the standard (not High Speed) Intergal Card from Maplin 1st, but truncated the end of the voices instructions, so if you go for an Intergal SD Card make sure it's marked "HIGH SPEED" and it should work OK.

Regarding the voltage etc. Anyone know what the Volts/amps is for the TT1 Regional? I wonder if I can use my Motorola phone charger on the TT1, both charge from the computer via USB. Might be handy to use the same car lead for both.

The maximum power available from a single USB socket is 2.5 watts (500 mA @ 5 v).
Anything that is designed to charge from the USB bus should conform to the USB standards, so they should be interchangeable.

Thanks for that, I have a curly cord car charger for my motorola which has a mini usb connector. It's a bit tidier in the car than the supplied cable and doesn't get in the way of other stuff.

Cheers, Stu.

Great that sounds easy enough!

Does anyone know the best place to get a charger for the one aswell, either the real one or alternative?

Don't have a psp so cant use that

remember that once you plug your ONE into the usb port of your computer that will charge your device.
