Ladies and Gentlemen,

Yuletide Greetings,

Santa very kindly brought me a 1gig SD card for Christmas. I have an Acer N35 with Destinator 3 thereon on the supplied 256 mb SD card.

I have searched this forum on exactly how to copy from my 256mb card onto my 1gig card to give me a bit more flexibility with my unit, but the correct answer it appears has never been forthcoming as to exactly what I need to copy over (exactly which files and how?) to make the unit work correctly.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Steve :D

Steve,

as long as you've got a card reader, you've got no problems.

Don't try to do it using your acer as it'll take 'til next christmas.

What you need to do is create a folder on your pc and copy all the files into this folder. Swap over cards in your card reader and copy back.

It really is that simple.

Mikey,
Sorry about that, my message posted of its own accord before I had finished???

Anyhow, I copied files to my new SD card and then placed the new 1 gig card in and launched Destinator and I was then told I had an unregistered copy of Destinator and would I like to register it, tried entering my original codes at the Destinator web-site and met with no luck and so it wont work? Have I missed something? Tried my original 256 mb card in and it works fine. Question Question

It a little difficult for me to check as I've binned the orignal 25 card.

However there are two things to check.

1. Ensure your PC is set-up to display hidden files and folders.

Control Panel>Folder Options>view
Show hidden files and folders.

2. I've looked at the back-up copy I made on CD and there are two files in the 2577 folder
Autorun and Destinator (zip file)

I've also got the mapping folder (UK_Ireland)

Hope this helps, if not drop me a PM and we can discuss.

There is a hidden file in the 2577 folder called 'ignore_my_docs' this needs to be copied over as well.

Santa must have got a cheap load of 1Gb SD cards because I too got one!
After borrowing a mates SD card reader I was able to copy all the files from the 256 card onto my PC then copied them back onto the 1Gb card all using the card reader.

After doing this, the first time I tried to fire up Destinator on the new card it tried to tell me there was a map error, however I accessed a few of the background files and had a general play with it and when i tried to fire up Destinator for a second time it worked a treat, and has worked fine since.

I have also managed to fill the remaining 750mb on the card with music for use in the car. I basically link the PDA to the stereo through a good quality cassette adaptor and can listen to the Windows Media Player with terrific sound quality and the instructions from destinator are spoken over the sound of the music, again all through the car stereo speakers. Works a treat.

Anyway persevere cos it should work and is worth the effort.

Col
