What can be done to "help" the TT One find a GPS signal when it is lost? (ie after being turned off)

I assume that moving to an "open" area will help to some extent.

Once in an "open" area, does it matter if you continue moving or is it best to remain stationary until a signal is located.

For the TTGO700 it stores the positions of the satellites for the next couple of days. When you switch it on it will look to see if they are where it thinks they are and if so regains the signal very quickly. If you leave it for more than three or four days it has to find them all again. If you move while it is searching it will keep losing the signals.
Its best to switch it on and leave it motionless until it finds the signal. One thing that I have learnt to do is keep the Tomtom switched on even when I know exactly where I am going and only switch it off when I arrive. It makes switching on so much faster.

Thanks - so the consensus is to remain stationery when trying to get a sattelite fix.

What about moving to an "open" area before parking up if there is a risk that you are in a difficult area. Does anyone know whether the TT One stores last known location which would give it a head start even in a poor reception area?

TT's continually re-writes the positional data while it is switched on and has a Sat Lock. This means that when switched off, it retains it's last known position.

If the Device is Reset, either by the paper clip method or the removal of the SD Card, it has to start again from the beginning.

Thanks - that makes sense - the unit took an unusually long time to get a lock after I "ejected" the SD card in error while trying to fit the car charger without taking the tt1 off its mount.
