I have a dell Axim X5 which using 5.1 was fine. I recently upgraded to 5.21 and am having a problem with long delays before any satellies are picked up.
The message waiting for signal is displayed. The other day never picked up signal at all, today drove 10 miles before it started. 5.1 was always more or less instant. Have considered reverting back. Any ideas gratefully received. |

I found the same when changing from mobile 5 to navigator 5.21. One of the stickys above states this is a bug, & recommends getting a fix on the receiver before starting tomtom (leave a gap of at least a minute after powering on the receiver).
I found this helps, but I still don't get as good signal as I used to on mobile 5. |

I used to get a fix quickly wether stationary or moving with tt mobile 5. If moving with navigator 5.21 I find it does take ages to obtain a fix. |

Interesting. I had Navigator 5.21 and also had trouble picking up a signal. Sometimes it took absolutely ages. I "downgraded" to 5 in order to get my voice warnings for POIs and lo and behold, I now pick up a signal really quickly. Must be something in the later version. |

This is the main reason why I wont upgrade to 5.21. I have seen too many threads like this.

I've been having the same problem using 5.21. Sometimes it would take twenty minutes to get a fix after leaving home even though I would switch on a few minutes before driving off. Yesterday, when returning from a 110mile trip, it got a fix within a hundred metres.
I wondered if it was my wired Haicom receiver but perhaps not. |
