Are you certain that the new Road Angle unit has a GPS Data out facility? I can see no mention of this feature in Blackspot's Technical Specifications, a surprising ommission if it has such a feature. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I recall somebody else mentioning in another thread that it doesn't have an output port. I can't clarify this myself as I haven't seen the rear of the new Road Angel. |

I think it does have serial NMEA output, through a PS2 type connector.
We do not have a RoadAngle2 or any technical information so naturally we cannot produce any cable for it.
They should at least provide a PC cable, do they not? _________________ Pc-Mobile

Ah, that makes a bit of sense because I've seen somewhere about a PS/2 connector but I discarded that thinking they wouldn't put a PS/2 connector on the back. Maybe they've done just that! |

I had looked at the user manual back in July at a customer's request and the PS2 serial conector is at the back of the unit.
I do not know why they have not provided, as an option, at least a PC serial cable. _________________ Pc-Mobile

The RoadAngel 2 has a PS/2 type connector on the back of the unit and does indeed support NEMA output. This is mentioned in the userguide and I also checked with blackspot support.
The only cable that ships with the unit is a mini usb cable for sync purposes. I'll speak to blackspot again and see if I can get the pinout for the PS/2 connector |

Did you not contact Blackspot before?
I am sure they should have the cable or at least had plan for it.
They should have it available by now, unless there is doubt whether serial output is supported. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Thank Dave for alerting us. We have only just now discovered the problem. I was beginning to wonder the number of email we were getting were fewer than usual but we did get emails.
Apology to those who had written to us in the past 2 weeks and did not get anywhere. The problem is now corrected. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Hi Ronald, I'm glad you worked it out. I've just sent you a PM in reply to yours. I'll amend my address book to the new email address :D |

hi there i seem to be having the same issues as others in this forum.
i have a new road angel but the serial out on the unit is configured in a mini din ps/2 style female connector. blackspot technical are of no use what so ever, to the point of fobbing me off now. ive tried contacting holux and several other retailers of pre made cables for which they no longer can obtain stock. so im trying to make my own. does anybody have the serial pin outs of this type of din connector, ive already made the connector to the pocket pc side. seems strange that such a company builds and device but provides no support for the interfaces given.
Cheers |

I am surprised Blackspot still have not come up with a cable for it. It is not good.
It is not difficult to make, unless it does not really have a serial port, contrary to what it says in the manual.
We do not have the GPS so we naturally cannot do anything about it. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Holux do the Road Angel Classic and New Road Angel cables, and I was only speaking with Holux the other day about this, so I woudl suggest contacting Holux again. We will have a review of one of the cables available soon. |
